How to use Simple hole feature with Blind as the extension type in CATIA V5?

Simple hole feature with Blind as the extension type in CATIA V5: Hole Feature is used to create a hole on the surface of a structure or a component so that the bolt is tightened into it in order to increase the strength and reduce the stress concentration. They are different types of holes.1.Simple Hole 2.Counter board  3.counter sunk 4.Tapered  5.counter drilled. With Respects To the structure, the type of hole is defined. In this article,I am going to explain you about the use of Simple hole feature with Blind as the extension type in CATIA V5 and is as follows.

Simple hole feature with Blind as the extension type in CATIA V5-Procedure Adopted:

A “hole” option is used in CATIA either by clicking the ‘hole’ feature from the toolbar or going to Insert-Sketch based features-Hole. A dialogue box opens which consists of
1.Extension
2.Type
3.Thread definition.

1. Extension:

It consists of
  • Blind
  • Up to next
  • Up to last
  • Up to plane
  • up to surface
The above extension subs indicates the extension of the hole into the component either Blind or up to Next surface or up to Last surface or up to a Particular plane or up to a Surface.

 2. Type:

It consists of different types of ‘Hole types’
  •       Simple hole
  •       Counterbored
  •       Counter drilled
  •       Tapered
  •       Countersunk
According to the need, the hole is to be chosen.
3. Thread definition:
  •      Right-handed thread
  •       Left-handed thread

Therefore this is the complete explanation of Simple hole feature with Blind as the extension type in CATIA V5.
In this article, I use a “simple hole type” feature with ‘Blind’ as the extension type for the component. Click on Type as Simple Hole and Extension as ‘Blind’. In Blind as an extension type, Diameter and Depth is given and “Bottom” direction of the path is to be chosen as Flat or V-Bottom. If V-Bottom is chosen, provide an angle for that hole.

Procedure for the format of CATIA V5 R20:

  • The format of CATIA V5 can be changed by the option called “Tools”.
  • Go to the Tools and say OPTIONS.
  • Then a dialogue box opens and there you can change the details that you need while drawing i.e Change of Units, Appearance, Change of background theme etc.
  • In this way, You can change the format of CATIA V5 R20.

How to use Tapered Hole Feature in CATIA V5?

How to use Tapered Hole Feature in CATIA V5?
Tapered Hole Feature in CATIA V5:Hole Feature is used to create a hole on the surface of a structure whereas Tapered Hole feature is used to create a hole not in Flat shape but in tapered shape i.e an angle from the depth edges of the hole is given to get a tapered shape for that hole.In this article I am going to explain about the detailed explanation of How to use Tapered Hole Feature in CATIA V5 and is as follows.
A step by step procedure is to be adopted to know about the usage of Tapered Hole Feature in CATIA V5 and is shown below. How to use Tapered Hole Feature in CATIA V5
How to use Tapered Hole Feature in CATIA V5

Tapered Hole Feature in CATIA V5 -Procedure:

To use Tapered Hole Feature on any surface,
  • Firstly choose a plane and Let it be XY Plane.
  • Now make a sketch and extrude it with the PAD feature. Thus a solid component will be obtained.
  • Choose the surface on which you need to make a hole and click on Hole Feature.
  • A dialogue box opens and it consists of Extension,Type and Threaded type.
  • For Tapered hole, choose the TYPE as Tapered and suitable angle is provided.
  • Go to the EXTENSION Type and choose any of the options.
  • Provide diameter, depth and select OK.
  • Then a tapered hole is obtained on the solid surface.
The detailed explanation of Extension, Type and Thread Definition are presented in the previous articles which are shown below.

How to use Circular Profiles in CATIA V5?

Circular Profiles in CATIA V5: Circular Profiles plays a vital role in the field of design to draw circular sketches. Circular profiles contain Circle, Three Point Circle, Tri-Tangent Circle etc. By the use of these circles, we can sketch a part or a model with the help of a sketch. In this article, I am going to explain the usage of Circular Profiles in CATIA V5 in a detailed manner. The step by step procedure is to be needed to adopt the usage of Circular Profiles in CATIA V5 and is as follows.

Circular Profiles in CATIA V5-Procedure:

  • Out of these 3 types of circles, The first “circle” option is used to draw any type of part in the design. The Explanation of Circular Profiles is discussed as follows.
  • Circle: Draws the circle of required diameter.
  • Three-Point Circle: Draw a straight line with two centers and draw a circle of required diameter.
  • Tri-tangent Circle: Draw three lines and select them then there exists Tri-Tangent Circle.

How to convert a file from igs to Parasolid using CATIA and Creo?

How to convert a file from igs to Parasolid using CATIA and Creo?

How to convert a file from .igs to Parasolid using CATIA and Creo?

Convert a file from .igs to Parasolid using CATIA and Creo: To convert a file from .igs to Parasolid, we require tools named CATIA & Creo. Both in CATIA and Creo, the modeling of a part takes place. but If you are importing a model into the ANSYS for Analysis then we need to convert the model from .igs to Parasolid by using this two modeling software. In this article, I am going to publish a step by step procedure about How to convert a file from “.igs to Parasolid” using CATIA & Creo.

Convert a file from .igs to Parasolid using CATIA and Creo-Procedure
  • When a solid model was constructed in CATIA, it has been sent to ANSYS to do the Analysis.
  • After Modelling through CATIA, it has to be saved in .igs format to a particular location in the Pc.
  • Now enter into the Creo. Import the geometry so as to convert the file from .igs to Parasolid.
  • Only the files with Parasolid format enters into the Ansys database to do the further Analysis.
  • By doing this procedure only we can convert a model from .igs to Parasolid format which later imported into Ansys for further Analysis.
