How to use AUTO Constraint in CATIA V5?

AUTO Constraint in CATIA V5: Auto constraint is used to provide the constraint to the sketch. The constraints may be fixed constraint, length, angle, radius, diameter constraint etc. which are used to make the components stick at a position with respect to the coordinate system. In this article, I am going to explain the usage of AUTO Constraint in CATIA V5 in a detailed manner. The step by step procedure is to be needed to adopt the usage of AUTO Constraint in CATIA V5 and is as follows.

AUTO Constraint in CATIA V5-Procedure:

To use Auto Constraint in CATIA V5,
  • Take any plane (Say XY Plane).
  • Now draw the lines which may/may not join at the common point.
  • After it, click on the Constraints button and choose the desired.
  • Let it may be, the length of the section, fixing the section, coinciding the lines, tangency etc.

That’s it…this is the Auto Constraint which can adapt automatically w.r.t the situations.

The step by step procedure is to be needed to adopt the usage of Rotate Constraint in CATIA V5 and is as follows.

Rotate Constraint in CATIA V5-Procedure:

To use Rotate Constraint in CATIA V5,
  • Select any plane( Say XY Plane).
  • Draw a circle with the given specifications.
  • Now go to Insert-Operation-Transformation-Rotate.
  • Then a dialogue box appears, On/Off the Duplicate Mode and give the number of instances (say it as 6).
  • Now click on the end of the circle.
  • That’s it…..the circle with the no of instances given will be rotated w.r.t the end point of the circle.

How to make an AUDI logo by the use of Translate Constraint in CATIA V5?

Translate Constraint in CATIA V5: Translate constraint is used to translate an object from its original position to where ever the distance required w.r.t the Co-ordinate system. We can do ‘n’ number of translations of any component (circular) with the help of translate constraint. This article mainly focuses on how to make an AUDI logo by the use of Translate Constraint in CATIA V5 and is shown below.

The step by step procedure is to be needed to adopt the usage of Translate Constraint and is as follows.

Translate Constraint in CATIA V5-Procedure:
To apply Translate Constraint in CATIA V5,

  • First of all, do the sketch in any plane(say XY plane).
  • Draw the circle with the given specifications.
  • Now go to Insert-Operation-Transformation-Translate.
  • Then a dialogue box appears, On/Off the Duplicate Mode and give the number of instances (say it as 6).
  • Now click on the circle with the center.
  • That’s it. The circles depending upon the no. of instances can translate at a specified distance from the center of the first drawn circle looking the symbol of AUDI.

How to do the Chamfer Sketch in CATIA V5?

Chamfer Sketch in CATIA V5: Chamfer is used to remove the sharp edges from the rectangular or square solid to handle it easily. We can do this operation with a rectangular solid and make a chamfer around its edges in CATIA V5 Software. In this article, I am going to explain the usage of Chamfer Sketch in CATIA V5 in a detailed manner. The step by step procedure is to be needed to adopt the usage of Chamfer Sketch in CATIA V5 and is as follows.
Chamfer Sketch in CATIA V5-Procedure:
The procedure for creating a chamfer sketch in CATIA V5 is as follows.
  • Firstly take a plane (say XY Plane).
  • Now draw a rectangle with the specified dimensions.
  • Now, to use ‘Chamfer’ go to Insert-Operation-Chamfer.
  • Click on the sides on which chamfer has to be made.
  • Give specified length of the chamfer and provide ‘angle’ if needed.

How to use Corner feature in CATIA V5?

Corner feature in CATIA V5: Corner feature plays a vital role in the field of design. If you see any complex structure, its edges are finished smoothly and that can be possible with corner feature only. In this article, I am going to explain the usage of Corner feature in CATIA V5 in a detailed manner. The step by step procedure is to be needed to adopt the usage of Corner feature in CATIA V5 and is as follows.

Corner feature in CATIA V5-Procedure:

  •  Firstly take a plane (say XY Plane).
  • Now draw a rectangle with the specified dimensions.
  • Now, to use ‘Corner sketch’, go to Insert-Operation-Corner’.
  • Click on the sides on which, a corner has to be made.
  • Give the specified ‘Radius’ in the dialogue box.
  • That’s it….
    • This is the explanation of Corner feature in CATIA V5.

How to use Trim Extend in CATIA V5?

Trim Extend in CATIA V5: Trim Extend is a feature in CATIA V5 which is used to Remove the unwanted Data and joins them if needed like joining lines which can form a rectangle or a square etc. The lines may be Straight, Curved, Angular etc. depending upon the construction. In this article, I am going to explain the usage of Trim Extend in CATIA V5 in a detailed manner. The step by step procedure is to be needed to adopt the usage of Trim Extend in CATIA V5 and is as follows.

Trim Extend in CATIA V5-Procedure:

To use trim extend feature in CATIA V5,
  • Go to Insert-Operation-and finally trim extend option.
  • Firstly, draw four lines in the form of a rectangle which is separated by some distances.
  • Now, those four individual lines are joined together by means of trim extend feature.
  • If there is no chance of adding a line to the existing curve to complete the path, then trim extend feature will be used.
  • That’s it. This is the explanation of Trim extend feature in CATIA V5.

How to use Multi Section Solid in CATIA V5-Procedure:

To use Multi Section Solid in CATIA V5,
  • Firstly select a plane and let it be XY Plane.
  • Now go to “ Start-Shape-Generative shape design”.
  • Click on “Plane” button from tool bar and provide an offset distance w.r.t the chosen plane. Let it be 50mm.
  • Now,to make a solid component by using Multi section solid, select the plane(selected primarily) and go to Start-Mechanical Design-Part Design to create a sketch on the plane.
  • Let it be circle of required dimension that is drawn on the plane chosen.
  • Now go to another plane which you had made and draw another sketch on it.
  • As you had made two sketches on the respective planes, it’s the time to combine those sketches to form a solid and that will be done by choosing Multi section Solid from the toolbar.
  • The detailed view of how to make a component from the reference planes is shown below in the form of  a video.
