How to use Symmetry Constraint In CATIA V5?

Symmetry Constraint In CATIA V5: Symmetry constraints play a vital role in the field of design to model complex structures. With the help of symmetry constraint, a lot of time is being saved while sketching or modeling any complex drawing. Here in this article, I will show you about how to use Symmetry Constraint In CATIA V5. The detailed procedure about the usage of symmetry constraint in CATIA V5 is shown below in the form of text and video.

Explanation of symmetry constraint:

Symmetry Constraint can be used in the cases where there is a need of symmetry in the objects sketched or modeled. The step by step procedure is to be adopted for the usage of Symmetry Constraint In CATIA V5.

Procedure for Symmetry Constraint:

To understand the Symmetry Constraint,
  • Firstly draw a component in the Sketcher.
  • If you want the exact sketch on any side of the plane, then draw an Axis or a Line and say Symmetry option.
  • Then, as it is the component can be shifted to another side of the Axis or Line mentioned.
  • You can make the symmetry of the component completely or partially.
  • For it, Go to  “Insert-Operation-Transformation-Symmetry” and that’s it the model will be generated.

How to model the shaft of an Automobile in CATIA V5?

While we look at the shaft of an automobile(image is shown below)it looks that it is very difficult to sketch it but when you know the basics of any design software it is very easy to understand any model. The shaft of an automobile is sketched and modeled in a design software called CATIA V5. The detailed procedure of How to model the shaft of an Automobile in CATIA V5 is shown below in the form of text and video.

The procedure adopted to sketch or model the shaft of an Automobile in CATIA V5 is shown below.

Shaft Of an Automobile:
To model the shaft of an automobile, firstly
  • Draw a circle of required dimension.
  • PAD it to the given dimensions.
  • Select the top view of the circular component and sketch a gear like an element with suitable dimensions.
  • Remove the material with the Pocket feature.
  • Draw an Axis by choosing one of the views and that axis must pass through the center of the circular block
  • Use Circular pattern and give the appropriate values so that 12 holes will be formed at an angle of 30 degrees each.
  • Now it looks like a gear if we extrude it to a little. Now, choose the top view and draw the circular component and Pad it to the required dimensions.
  • The same procedure is to be repeated to model the complete component which is shown below in the form of a video.

How to draw 3D Natraj or Apsara Pencil in CATIA V5?

3D Natraj or Apsara Pencil in CATIA V5: Its very difficult to draw pencil like structures in the beginning and it becomes easy when you are practicing a lot. Therefore, In this article, I am going to explain about, how to draw 3D Natraj or Apsara Pencil in CATIA V5 in a detailed manner. The step by step procedure is to be needed to adopt 3D Natraj or Apsara Pencil in CATIA V5 and is as follows.

3D Natraj or Apsara Pencil in CATIA V5-Procedure:

To draw a pencil like structure(or an object),
  • Go to a modeling package called CATIA and take the sketcher first.
  • Draw a hexagon of given dimensions and extrude it.
  • Now click on all the edges of the hexagon and do the chamfer by using Edge Fillet.
  • Now draw a line from the midpoint as shown below by using GROOVE option so as to remove the material in the desired way.
  • That’s it…This is how we can draw a pencil in CATIA V5.

How to use AUTO Constraint in CATIA V5?

AUTO Constraint in CATIA V5: Auto constraint is used to provide the constraint to the sketch. The constraints may be fixed constraint, length, angle, radius, diameter constraint etc. which are used to make the components stick at a position with respect to the coordinate system. In this article, I am going to explain the usage of AUTO Constraint in CATIA V5 in a detailed manner. The step by step procedure is to be needed to adopt the usage of AUTO Constraint in CATIA V5 and is as follows.

AUTO Constraint in CATIA V5-Procedure:

To use Auto Constraint in CATIA V5,
  • Take any plane (Say XY Plane).
  • Now draw the lines which may/may not join at the common point.
  • After it, click on the Constraints button and choose the desired.
  • Let it may be, the length of the section, fixing the section, coinciding the lines, tangency etc.

That’s it…this is the Auto Constraint which can adapt automatically w.r.t the situations.

How to use Rotate Constraint in CATIA V5?

Rotate Constraint in CATIA V5: Rotate constraint is used to rotate the component by using the number of instances in CATIA V5. We can do ‘n’ number of rotations of any circular component with the help of rotate constraint. In this article, I am going to explain the usage of Rotate Constraint in CATIA V5 in a detailed manner. The step by step procedure is to be needed to adopt the usage of Rotate Constraint in CATIA V5 and is as follows.

Rotate Constraint in CATIA V5-Procedure:

To use Rotate Constraint in CATIA V5,
  • Select any plane( Say XY Plane).
  • Draw a circle with the given specifications.
  • Now go to Insert-Operation-Transformation-Rotate.
  • Then a dialogue box appears, On/Off the Duplicate Mode and give the number of instances (say it as 6).
  • Now click on the end of the circle.
  • That’s it…..the circle with the no of instances given will be rotated w.r.t the end point of the circle.

How to make an AUDI logo by the use of Translate Constraint in CATIA V5?

Translate Constraint in CATIA V5: Translate constraint is used to translate an object from its original position to where ever the distance required w.r.t the Co-ordinate system. We can do ‘n’ number of translations of any component (circular) with the help of translate constraint. This article mainly focuses on how to make an AUDI logo by the use of Translate Constraint in CATIA V5 and is shown below.

The step by step procedure is to be needed to adopt the usage of Translate Constraint and is as follows.

Translate Constraint in CATIA V5-Procedure:
To apply Translate Constraint in CATIA V5,

  • First of all, do the sketch in any plane(say XY plane).
  • Draw the circle with the given specifications.
  • Now go to Insert-Operation-Transformation-Translate.
  • Then a dialogue box appears, On/Off the Duplicate Mode and give the number of instances (say it as 6).
  • Now click on the circle with the center.
  • That’s it. The circles depending upon the no. of instances can translate at a specified distance from the center of the first drawn circle looking the symbol of AUDI.
